Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally produced by the human body that is found in the connective tissue of the skin, in the cartilage or tendons of the joints, but also in the vitreous body of the eyeball.
Hyaluronic acid, thanks to its minimal side effects, is widely used for different purposes, including some Aesthetic Medicine treatments.
Currently, there are many cosmetic products that contain hyaluronic acid. However, the one that must be taken into account is the one used in Aesthetic Medicine or to treat joint pathologies. In any case, it is a product that can be injected into the areas to be treated, presented in gel form.
In Aesthetic Medicine treatments, it may be indicated in the treatment of:
- Wrinkles
- nasolabial folds
- Crow's feet
- Wrinkles on the forehead or between the eyebrows
Preparation for treatments with hyaluronic acid.
Before undergoing a treatment with hyaluronic acid, it is essential to carry out a complete medical history of the patient to assess all the history that the person may have (reactions, allergies or possible infections).
It is important that the patient avoid sun exposure and alcoholic beverages the day before and the day of treatment. On the other hand, aspirin should not be taken during the three days prior to treatment; in this way, an attempt will be made to avoid the appearance of bruises
Finally, the sterility of the skin at the time of injection must be taken into account to avoid possible infections.
Once the treatment with hyaluronic acid has been carried out, the patient should not practice sports until two hours have passed since the injection. You should also not consume alcohol, aspirin or anti-inflammatories.
Some care to take into account both before and after treatment are:
Avoid sun exposure, physical exercise 24 hours before or after treatment, avoid pressure on the treated area.
Apply specific creams according to the recommendation of the specialist aesthetic doctor (pre and/or vitamin K pre and post anesthesia).
Carry out post-recuperation treatment in the cabin to settle the product and prevent the appearance of bruises.
In some cases, a temporary swelling may appear in the area where the infiltration has been injected due to a mild inflammatory process. Additional treatments are not necessary because, as already mentioned, these are temporary side effects that tend to go away in a couple of days.
